Brandt & Nicole: The Wedding

As stated in my previous post, this wedding experience was a real joy. It was one of those weddings where emotion and love took center stage and made for beautiful photos. I've told people before that if given the choice between a camera-shy person or a trained professional model to photograph I would pick the camera shy. They act vulnerable and real. Nicole and Brandt are the epitome of people who hate looking at the camera - but are great at just being themselves and allowing me to follow along beside them and capture them as they really are. I teamed up with Nicole's uncle Ronald on this wedding. He took a HUGE load off my shoulders by doing all the posed group shots which freed me up to really just be creative and take more candid images. You'll notice on this post that I'm playing around with my branding a bit ... and definitely am experimenting a bit more with post processing. Some part of me really wants to be a purist because effects and actions on photos run the risk of being very cheesy and dated in a few years... but then the artist in me takes over and yearns to explore the possibilities of an image. So I have to be true to myself. :) Enjoy a few of my favorites from that beautiful day in the windy city.

lol... this photo just makes me laugh. They all danced back down the isle and somehow these two managed an unrehearsed fist bump.

These were some of the most memorable moments (or characters) at this wedding:

All that rice throwing meant photo shopping many suspicious looking white flakes out of their hair in this one:
